At the National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation in Tokyo, Japan, Mitsubishi Electric has installed an organic light-emitting display (OLED) globe whose diameter was 6 meters. The first large-scale spherical OLED screen was the OLED “Geo-Cosmos” display. The globe is made of aluminium and is covered with 10,362 96×96 OLED panels, which Hanging 18 meters from the floor. The OLED display has a resolution of 10 times greater than that of the LED display and is used for replacing a globe that composed of light emitting diodes (LEDs). This technology employs Mitsubishi Electric’s Diamond Vision OLED system which can be scaled into non-linear display applications. The globe will be capable of displaying scenes of clouds and other visions of the earth taken from a meteorological satellite. There are three other companies involved in the creation of the OLED Geo-Cosmos display: Dentsu, Go and Partners and GK Tech.
Hirose Electric USA has recently released a multifunctional connector system that provides wire-to-board, board-to-board joint and short-circuit sockets.waterproof wire connectors diy The DF59 Series connector requires a small connector, small DC motor drives and power supplies. The connector’s low-mated height at 2.5mm and its overall size of 8×9mm make it an ideal for narrowly-mounted LEDs. The DF59 offers ultimate flexibility and adopts the company’s unique “swing lock” design. Moreover, during the installation process, the connector can provide stress-free contact for 0.5mm floating function in XYZ directions for greater flexibility. It has a 2mm pitch and is available in 2, 3 and 4 positions. It’s current capacity is 3A with high contact lance strength for wire-to-board type connections.
Phiplip Lumileds and Future Electronics have expanded their new five-year agreement based on the decade long relationship which has enabled the development of solid-state lighting solutions worldwide. Future Lighting Solutions has proven over the last decade that with LUXEON LEDs, highly trained LED solution engineers, and the core services of a global solutions provider, they are well positioned to support and enable the growing number of companies that want to enter the solid-state lighting industry. It has provided the customers with access to the world’s leading portfolio of LEDs for illumination-LUXEON. The investment in resources, training, design tools, and best-in-class supply chain capabilities has enabled people to become the service leader in the solid state lighting industry.
National Semiconductor is planning a street lighting design with its constant current linear regulators. The LM3445 LED driver is supposed to avoid and overcome visible flickering problems caused by a triac forward or reverse phase dimmer via translating the triac-chopped waveform into a DIM signal and decoding it to a DC signal. LEDs will replace incandescent bulbs which are dimmable with standard TRIAC dimmer as well as traditional fluorescent tubes and ballasts. The related integrated circuit is LA1810.
